On the scene when Hank’s boss says, “he was right under my nose,”: I don’t think Hank was thinking about Walt at all at that point. I think the scene was simply meant to be ironic; Hank’s boss is saying GUS WAS RIGHT UNDER MY NOSE and Hank still doesn’t realize that Walt is right under his.
